“Through hard work and strong teamwork we will nurture, encourage and support our young people to be the best that they can be.” – DGS Support Department Vision Statement

In Personal and Social Education, we support our young people to:

  • meet challenges, manage change and build relationships
  • experience personal achievement and build resilience and confidence
  • understand and develop physical and mental wellbeing and social skills
  • understand that adults in our school community have a responsibility to look after our pupils, listen to concerns and involve others where necessary
  • learn about where to find help and resources to inform choices
  • assess and manage risk and understand the impact of risk-taking behaviour
  • reflect on strengths and skills to make informed choices when planning next steps
  • acknowledge diversity and understand that it is everyone’s responsibility to challenge discrimination.

Our PSE course covers seven main areas: Digital Safety, Mental and Emotional Wellbeing, Physical Wellbeing, Planning for Choices and Change, Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood, Social Wellbeing, and Substance Misuse.
